So today we're going to talk a little bit about the medical system itself and whether it's broken. The reality is that medicine has advanced incredibly over the last many years. And if you consider medicine, the research and the incredible work people do to cure cancer and to help with heart disease and all those wonderful things.

then the medical system's working great. But if you compare that with the profit centers that most hospitals, insurance companies, and doctors are stuck in, then the system is clearly broken. There was a recent article talking about how when hospitals buy a private practice, that private practice is now a hospital -based practice and is allowed to charge eight

10, 12 times what they used to provide, what they used to charge for the exact same service. And that the insurance companies go along with this. This is a profit -driven system. There is a reason that you see commercials on television for hospitals constantly. The reason is because they want you to come into their system so that they can earn a profit. How does that interact with medical malpractice? Because a lot of what we see is about the profit.

nurses. aren't enough nurses on almost any floor in almost any hospital in the state of New York. Why? Because it's a profit -driven determination. They don't want to pay the nurses. They don't want to provide enough nurses because that will impact their bottom line.

Surgeries that are done whether they should be or not is sometimes a question of profit Why is this particular surgeon or surgery going forward? Why is a surgeon who has? Frequently been sued or has been found to be negligent by juries or by the Department of Health Why are they continually providing services to these provide to these hospitals? Why are they continuing to do surgeries? Profit

So much of what we see is the inevitable outcome of a system pushing profit over patients. Patient safety takes a backseat to the profitability and the profit models of the hospitals. So if you think that you have been someone who hospitals didn't much care about you as a person, but as a financial figure.
