Michael J. Regan

Michael Regan, trial counsel at Duffy & Duffy, specializes in civil trial work including medical malpractice and complex litigation in state and federal court.

Mr. Regan was appointed to serve as special counsel by the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in the Eagle Enterprises cases (1998-2001) and was appointed to serve as District Court Arbitrator by the Administrative Judge for the County of Suffolk ( 2007-present). He has also appeared on the Fox News Channel as a legal consultant.

Outside of the courtroom, Mr. Regan is actively involved in his community. He assisted in the creation of the Lead The Way Fund (LTW) and currently serves on its Board of Advisors as legal counsel. LTW is a 501(c)(3) corporation established to raise funds to support families of U.S. Army Rangers who have been killed, disabled or are serving in harms way around the world. He was elected to serve as president of the Brehon Society of Suffolk County (2007), and was co-founder of the Catholic Education Fund, Inc. a 501(c)(3) corporation established to raise funds to support Catholic education through scholarships and grants (2004). In addition, Mr. Regan served as staff counsel for the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland in the Human Rights Division of the International Labor Office (1993). While serving in that capacity, he drafted portions of the North African Human Rights Charter. He was also co-founder and executive director of the Bishop Ryan Guild, Inc., a 501(c)(3) corporation that provides residential and counseling services to homeless children (1988-1993).

In 1993, Mr. Regan earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Touro Law School in Huntington, New York. He was elected to serve two terms as vice president of the Student Bar Association and received the American Jurisprudence Award for Legal Writing in 1993. Mr. Regan studied international law at Moscow State University in Moscow, Russia in 1993 and received a Master of Arts in 1988 from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He received a Bachelor of Science in 1986 from the University of Scranton and was admitted to practice law in New York in 1994.

Mr. Regan is admitted to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
